Kornati Island Piskera

The island of Piskera or Jadra is part of the Kornati National Park. The Park is usually entered from the north, through Proversa mala and Proversa vela passage, or from the south, between Cape Opat and Smokvica Island.

When approaching from Proversa the course to ACI marina Piškera leads through a row of channels among numerous islands and islets. The most interesting part of the Kornati are the famous cliffs and the most beautiful can be found at the westerns shores of the islands of Mana and Rašip. Somewhat south there is the island of Piskera. West of Piskera is the Panitula vela Island, on which the ACI marina Piskera is situated. In front of the entrance to the marina are the Panitula mala Island and Škanji reefs.

When approaching from the north or west between the Škanji reefs and the southern cape of Panitula vela Island the passage is safe with a sea depth of 7m. The approach channel from the northwest between the islands of Panitula vela and Piskera is shallow and dangerous because of numerous rocks. The southern cape of Panitula vela Island (43°45,4' N 15°21,2' E) can be used as a way point.  Approaching ACI marina Piskera from Cape Opat is much easier. The southern cape of Veseljuh Islet (43°45,8' N 15°22,4' E) can be used as a way point, and the course leads through the channel between the islands of Lavsa and Piskera. Immediately after passing the channel the marina comes in sight.

ACI marina lies between the islands of Piskera and Panitula vela, on the northern coast of Panitula vela Island.

At the most prominent point of the island stands the ACI flag.

The marina is very well protected from bora, and somewhat lesser from southern winds.

Open: mid of March - end October

Berth: The marina has 150 berths. Sea depth at the piers is 2.5 - 3.5 m.

Berths have water and power supply. Water supply for vessels' purposes is limited. Water and electricity are rationed at the marina in the same way as at Luka Zut.

Facilities: Reception, exchange office, restaurant, telephone, toilets and showers, grocery store, necessary water supply available. The nearest gas station is in Zaglav on Dugi otok (12 Nm)

Eleven miles away from Piskera is a Smokvica Vela islet. Consider as an alternative to stop here and enter in to a Lojena cove. There is a few seasonally inhabited houses on south coast of the islet. Drop the anchor at the bottom of the cove.  If the weather conditions are stormy,  proceed directly to Lavsa.  Sailing through Kornati channel you should pay attention on reefs and shallows.  Lavsa is the cove on the northern coast of the islet of the same name. The cove is a good anchorage and shelter , but with strong north winds blowing, go to the Piskera marina, which is only one and half mile away. Marina is situated on northern coast of the islet of Panitula Vela. Showers with hot water, and restaurant on site. Electric power and water have been in very limited supply during the last season.

Note: You have to pay for ticket each day you spend in the Kornati National Park.
