Cyclades Cup

  From October 29th - November 6th

Race Details
The Race will be governed by the 2000-2004 ISAF Racing Rules and these sailing instructions. The race is classified as category No. 3 of the ORC Special Regulations 2002-4. All boats will race under the EAE (Greek Offshore Race Committee) time on distance correction system.

Signals
All four starts will be signalled from the RC boat.
Visual signals govern.
Category flags: The category flags will be numeral pennants “1” for the A class and “2” for the B class.
Warning signal: 6 minutes before each start the category flag will be displayed together with one sound signal.
Preparatory signal: 4 minutes before the start the code flag P will be displayed together with one sound signal.
One minute before the start, the code flag P is lowered together with one sound signal.
Start: The start will be signalled by lowering the category flag, together with one sound signal. Boats starting later than 9 minutes after the starting signal will be considered as DNS.
Individual recalls: If at the starting signal any part of a yacht's hull, crew or equipment are on the course side of the starting line, the code flag X will be displayed on the RC boat together with one long sound signal. The Race Committee will try to announce the prematurely started boats on the VHF. If this is not possible this does not constitute grounds for seeking redress. Such yacht(s) will return to the prestart side of the starting line and start properly.
General recall: If at the starting signal there are a great number of unidentified premature starters, the First Substitute of the International Code will be displayed on the RC boat, together with two sound signals and all yachts must return for a new start. A short time after the general recall, the First Substitute will be lowered together with one sound signal. Exactly one minute later the warning signal will be displayed for a new start procedure as described above.

*The Race committee will try to announce on the VHF the prematurely started boats. If the above is not feasible this does not consists ground for seeking redress.

Postponement Signals
When the answering pennant of the International Code is displayed together with two sound signals on the RC boat, the race is postponed. One minute after this signal is lowered, together with one sound signal, the warning signal will be displayed for a new start procedure, as above.

Time Limits
The time limit for finishing the first leg (Epidavros-Poros) will be 8 hours, 19 NM.
For the 2nd leg (Poros-Ermioni), the time limit will be 8,5 hours,21 NM.
For the 3rd leg (Ermioni-Hydra), the time limit will be 5 hours,12 NM.
For the 4th leg (Hydra-Porto Heli), the time limit will be 7,5 hours,18 NM.
The time allowance for each yacht will be added to the time limit.

Scoring
The low points scoring system of the ISAF Rules will apply.

Ties
When there is a tie on total points between two or more yachts, the tie will be broken in favour of the yacht or yachts with the most first places and if the tie remains, the most second places and so on, if necessary, for such races as count for total points. If the tie still remains, then it will be broken in favour of the first placed yacht of the first leg (Epidavros - Poros).

Abandonment
Any yacht which abandons the race for any reason must inform the Race Committee as soon as possible.

RC Position during finish
According to prevailing weather conditions it may be necessary to place the red flag from the RC boat on land. The red flags on bar-buoys will remain as described.

Communication
The RC will listen on VHF channel 6. Communication on channel 6 will only be allowed for emergency reasons. Information will only be given by the visual signals or written notice.

Responsibility
All participants take part in the Blue Cup at their own risk.

Restrictions
No spinnakers will be allowed. All yachts must race with their standard sails provided by the Beneteau yard.

Recognition Signals
The RC boat will fly a yellow flag with black letters: RC
