Courses are organised in various destinations in Croatia with major ones being in Island Krk by Rijeka and on the island of Murter by Zadar
RYA Practical
Courses run by Nigel Turnbull, in an RYA recognised centre in Split,
CROATIA, by SAILING SCHOOL CROATIA, and are available as of 2007 : Island of Murter Skipper Training - Skipper training is program designed for regular charter guests, same as for newcomers to the sailing in Croatia. The training is usually organised before the main season (usually before
Easter time), especially when there is a new type of boat introduced to the
fleet, to give skippers a chance to get more familiar with a new boat before
a season. |

Island of Krk Skipper Training - The training can be designed to tailor the specific needs of each individual participant but in general includes the following manoeuvres: Port manoeuvres, docking, undocking, forward best bower, alongside, at moorings, manoeuvring the ship in narrow space in ports and marinas, using the wheel effect, safety at sea, sailing at night, anchoring, tacking and jibing, rough water manoeuvring, cultivating seamanship in convivial evenings, practical navigation and many other interesting topics.... Dates and Schedule: for 2004 the schedule is to be confirmed but in general it will take place between the end of March and May 2004. It lasts 3 days over the weekend. There are the following alternatives available....
Additional Information: The training is organised by experienced skippers who are able to pass their extensive knowledge to other sailors. The course in intesive and not only for sailing novices but also for sailors who have general experience in sailing and advanced sailors who already conducted a yacht. The main aim of this training is however to enable you to handle the yacht correctly in every situation so that the knowledge which was lost during the winter is gained again and enable you to be up to scratch when the real season starts.
